A late-night address by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday revealed the news millions of South Africans have been waiting for.
Having kept the country on tenterhooks while delicate negotiations took place between members of the newly formed Government of National Unity (GNU), a cabinet has finally been announced.
The ANC had to broker a deal with at least 10 other parties to remain in government after failing to garner sufficient support in the elections on 29 May to retain its outright majority.
The cabinet is a mixed bag and sees parties such as the Democratic Alliance (DA), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), and Patriotic Alliance (PA) taking up key posts in the national executive.
Maimane suggests it's something of a political hotchpotch.
"He's effectivley chosen a national team, unclear which tournament they're playing, who are the defenders, who are the strikers, but heck, we've got a team to go."

The ANC has emerged triumphant from an election in which they performed dismally, says the former DA leader.
"To be able to lose an election and get 40% and manage still with the same number of cabinet [ministers]... tells me how political parties have been outsmarted by President Ramaphosa."

Maimane suggests the new cabinet ensures the stability of the ANC rather than the stability of the country.
