A crime intelligence officer dealing with agents and informants will be testifying behind closed doors at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Monday.

The officer will only be referred to as "Witness G".

Last month, the commission gave Witness G's application to testify partially in-camera the green light.

This, after his lawyers argued that revealing his identity could potentially place him and his informers in danger.

The Madlanga Commission has said that Witness G will be testifying from an undisclosed location with only his voice being audible.

The commission said that some parts of Witness G’s testimony may be heard fully in-camera, meaning none of the testimony will be made public.

Witness G’s lawyer, Tshepo Matlala, previously told the commission about the potential dangers if his client is identified.

“For instance, somebody who has witnessed our client with a particular informer, they could be conclusions drawn correctly or incorrectly that the particular individual who has been seen with the witness were acting in the capacity of being an informer," said Matlala.

Witness G is likely to be asked to confirm the status of controversial political fixer Brown Mogotsi, who told the commission he was also a crime intelligence informant.
