JOHANNESBURG - The family of two children involved in a fatal minibus taxi crash is struggling to accept the loss of one of their children, while another is in hospital.
The pair was part of 20 children travelling in the 14-seater minibus taxi that caught alight after a Ford Ranger rammed into it on Wednesday.
Twelve pupils died, along with the driver of the taxi.
Eight other pupils were rushed to the Carletonville Hospital before seven were discharged. One was transferred to the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital for further medical care.
Martha Matsheneng is the aunt of 12-year-old Hlompho Matsheneng who was admitted at Bara Hospital.
“Our children shouldn’t have died, 12-year-olds are grown - each was supposed to have their own seat”
Matsheneng said the family was reeling over the death of her nephew, Olesego Khesa 12.
Investigations into the matter continue.
