CAPE TOWN - Citrusdal in the Western Cape has been cut off after the main road leading into the town was washed away by flooding.
A section of the R303 washed was away after a nearby river burst its banks following persistent heavy downpours in the province during the week.

In June 2023, the same access road from the N7 highway into the town was eroded by floods.
Cederberg Local Municipality Mayor Ruben Richards said a plan is being made to find alternative ways to access the town.
"We are asking all our residents to stay as calm as possible. We've got the matters under control as best as we can. We're exploring all possible access routes. Rescue efforts are on the way, relief efforts are in place - we will survive this."
