RSR to publish findings of probe into fatal crash involving train and scholar transport bus soon

JOHANNESBURG - The Railway Safety Regulator said it would publish findings from its preliminary investigation into an accident that claimed the lives of six children in Mpumalanga within the next 24 hours.
Twenty pupils were injured in Wednesday's crash involving their scholar transport bus and a Transnet train at Sikhululiwe Village.
Officials said that the bus was carrying 30 pupils at the time of the accident, with 10 others critically injured.
"The Railway Safety Regulator is currently at the scene of the tragic accident which happened at the Arnot level crossing, Steve Tswete Municipality at Sikhululiwe Village. The RSR inspectors are currently on the scene, conducting a preliminary investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to this occurrence," said Railway Safety Regulator spokesperson Madelein Williams.
