SA farm breaks record bidding R8 million for a special Boran bull

Cyclone, a special Boran bull, was sold for a record-breaking R8 million at the Hurwitz Farming 10th Production Auction, held in Mpumalanga over the weekend.

The 'Boran bull Cyclone BH 18 749' was sold for a record-breaking price of R8 million at the Hurwitz Farming 10th Production Auction, held at the Bull Ring in Davel, Mpumalanga, on Saturday, 3 August 2024. 

This bull was purchased by Collen Tafireyi of Sinyo Boran Stud -  a cattle farming company based in Zimbabwe.

Tafireyi was ecstatic about the purchase, stating he will use the bull to build a strong Boran stud in Zimbabwe.                   

"Cyclone, just like his father Picasso , will play a pivotal role in our breeding goals and the next nine months will be exciting! Thanks again to our good friends at Hurwitz Farming for finally releasing their very best bull, albeit under heavy competition from other serious bidders!"
