You may or may not yet be familiar with China's Oppo brand, but the smart device manufacturers have done very well since arriving in South Africa says Toby Shapshak, publisher at Stuff Studios.
'They make very good products.'
With fierce competition in the smartphone market, Shapshak takes a look at the recently launched Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G.
Stuff's review is cheekily titled A wannabe wolf in cheap clothing.
The latest model promises 'Reno's best battery life ever', with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM.
Shapshak highlights the phone's camera capability, featuring three 50 megapixel sensors which include a telephoto lens.
Not bad for a device which costs R17 300, he notes.
'That's impressive for any smartphone under R20 000 to have.'

All in all, it's a good option at a good price, Shapshak says.
"You can spend a couple of grand more and you could get a more well-known brand, but I think Oppo are good and you get great value for money."
"It's got some AI features that are at a better price point than some of the bigger brands. Early signs are that this phone is doing well."
