KZN Transport MEC Duma to do oversight visit at site of deadly accident in Mandeni

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma will on Friday morning conduct an oversight visit on the N2 highway following a deadly accident.
The department said that various officials, including the MEC, were rushing to the scene near Mandeni on the north coast.
Six children and an adult died after a light vehicle reportedly ploughed into a truck.
Department spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya: "Another dark cloud is hanging over KwaZulu-Natal after yet another horrific accident on our roads. Our teams from the road traffic inspectorate, together with emergency rescue teams, are speedily intervening."
Sibiya explained the preliminary reports received on the crash.
"At this stage, our officers have reported that the driver of a 7-seater light motor vehicle lost control of his car. The car went over to the other lane and collided with a truck, causing it to veer off the road and overturn."
