The EFF has been experiencing an exodus of members leaving for the MK, including its former deputy, Floyd Shivambu, who left in August. Former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane also jumped the EFF's ship just last month.
Advocate Mpofu has been Zuma's legal representative of choice in several of his personal matters, but has also taken briefs for MK Party matters since its inception last year.
During the party’s regular appearances at the Electoral Court, Mpofu would often join the MK's leadership on the podium, chanting party slogans and joining in song.
This despite him still holding an EFF membership at the time.
