The National Institutes of Health reports that South Africa is one of the countries with the highest obesity prevalence.
While many people can simply adopt better eating habits and live a more active lifestyle, others require medical intervention due to their genetics.
It is subject to strict criteria, which include a BMI of 30 and above and a complication of obesity such as cholesterol, diabetes, or people living with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
There are several types of medications ranging from tablets to injectables such as semaglutide, popularly known as Ozempic.
