Deputy Police Minister Boshielo unhappy with high number of rape cases involving children in Limpopo

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy Police Minister Polly Boshielo has expressed discontent at the challenge of rape cases involving children in Seshego and Matlala, Limpopo.
This following reports of a 28-year-old man who allegedly raped a 13-year-old who gave birth on Christmas Day.
Boshielo noted that there had been more than 29,000 arrests on cases of gender-based violence and femicide in the 2023/2024 financial year.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba said: "The deputy minister confirmed that 30 teenagers gave birth on Christmas Day and that a team of investigators have already been assembled to track down all the perpetrators.This will send a strong message that anyone who preys on young girls will face the full consequences of the law."
