Another Cape Town cop in the dock for allegedly raping female detainee

CAPE TOWN - Another Cape Town police officer has been arrested for allegedly raping a female detainee inside holding cells at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court.

The incident allegedly took place last week Tuesday.

The constable working at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court is expected to appear at the same court on Monday.

It's understood that the female victim reported the alleged rape to prison officials at Pollsmoor Prison on the same day.

Officials from police watchdog IPID were called to the prison, and a rape case was opened at the Mfuleni Police Station.

In a separate case, a 41-year-old police officer stationed at the Mfuleni Police Station was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female inmate in November.

The police officer was denied bail last month and remanded in custody.

He's expected to make his next court appearance on 20 February 2025.
