Amantle Samane murder-accused due back in court

JOHANNESBURG - Pethe Simao accused of raping and murdering little Amantle Samane is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
Simao was arrested in October 2024, after the six-year-old's lifeless body was found in his shack in Orlando, Soweto.
He is currently in custody and is yet to apply for bail.
Samane’s mother reported that her child was missing when she could not find her outside, where she had been playing.
An eyewitness who had seen the accused walking with the little girl assisted in the search, which led them to Simao’s shack.
After the discovery the accused went on the run but was eventually tracked down and arrested.
He faces charges of rape, murder, kidnapping and contravention of the Immigration Act.
