JOHANNESBURG - Wits University says it has removed students who are on a hunger strike from the SRC boardroom because they are unregistered.
The students have been occupying the boardroom for five days, calling for the university to register them despite their historic debt.
The university says students can register to study if they owe less than R10,000 or pay half of what they owe.
On Monday, when the students held a prayer session and burnt incense, campus security asked them to vacate the premises.
Wits spokesperson, Shirona Patel: "The first individual is a former SRC member from about ten years ago or so who has since been working and who is now demanding to be funded for postgraduate studies. The second individual is a mature male who also has a postgraduate qualification from the university, who is also demanding funding to study further."
