3 suspects found with illegal guns, ammunition in WC expected to appear in court

Police reportedly arrested two men in Nyanga, while another suspect was apprehended in Worcester.

CAPE TOWN - Three suspects found in possession of illegal guns and ammunition are expected to appear in court on Monday. 

Police reportedly arrested two men in Nyanga on Thursday after responding to a complaint. 

Upon spotting the suspicious duo, the officers reportedly conducted a search and confiscated a 9mm pistol along with ammunition. 

In a separate incident, members of the anti-gang unit deployed in Worcester received information about a firearm stored at a residence at the River View flats. 

Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi confirmed that another suspect was apprehended in Worcester.

"They operationalised the information and tactically approached the residence in River View Flats. Upon entering the house, they searched the occupants and the premises and, in the process, found a Taurus .38 Special Revolver hidden underneath a bath."
