Tracey catches up with the author and finds out where you can get your hands on some easy, convenient recipes with a spicy twist.

Kfm's Tracey Lange speaks to to Kamini Pather, South African chef, television personality, and author of her first full-length cookbook All Dahl’d Up.

Pather rose to prominence as the winner of MasterChef South Africa in 2013.

In the same year, Pather graced the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine as `Woman of the Year' -- a title she shares with Tracey.

Pather also hosted, produced cooking-travel shows like Girl Eat World, wrote an e-cookbook Eat Glocal and has now elevated her platform to write and release her first full-length cookbook, All Dahl’d Up... and ran a few Cape Town marathons in between.

Now that we're all caught up...

Pather says her cookbook is described as "everyday Indian-ish good mood food" that "is incredibly personal... it's the food I grew up with, but through the eyes I see the world with now."

The book covers 80 recipes designed for ease and convenience -- you can expect 30 to 45 minute meals. While most recipes can be made in one pot with accessible ingredients using everyday spices.

"It's not going to have a recipe list that's got 20 thousand spices that are going to sit at the back of the cupboard until the next time... it's stuff you use everyday, and simple to follow. I hope it gives people a bit of inspiration to say, 'I can use spices everyday from breakfast through to dessert.'"

The book officially launches on Wednesday, 12 March at The Book Lounge at 5:30 pm.

The book is available for purchase at Exclusive Books, Bargain Books, Loot and online... or from Pather who'll sign it for you.

Pather says she hopes the book inspires many to transform their favourite ingredients into sizzling deliciousness...

"I would encourage people to get some inspiration to think out of the box... because I don't know if you've noticed this but if you go to a grocery store, you choose the same things and you go home and you potentially cook them the same way and sometimes it's nice to just see the ingredient you love and go, 'oh, I didn't think about it like that.'"
