JOHANNESBURG - Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya has warned beneficiaries of government housing against selling their properties.
On Wednesday, Moya oversaw the completion of over 400 houses in Olivenhoutbosch, Centurion.
The beneficiaries are former residents of the Mooiplaas informal settlement.
The mayor says there are many cases of people selling their government houses and returning to the informal settlements.
“We have had that in Atteridgeville, Soshanguve, Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal where people don’t understand the importance of a title deed, and we always remind people if you have a title deed, laminate it, put it under your mattress and make sure that you keep it safe.”
