JOHANNESBURG - It could take up to six weeks before the suspended CEO at the Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS), Nozipho Mdawe, learns her fate.
Mdawe was placed on precautionary suspension last week, pending an investigation into whether she fulfilled her duties at the helm.
The probe comes amid concerns of inefficiencies at the state-owned company, including critical staffing shortages and unreliable navigation systems.
An independent law firm has been appointed to investigate Mdawe’s conduct.
Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy met with the ATNS board and management in Johannesburg on Monday to discuss the challenges at the company.
ATNS board chairperson Zola Majavu also joined Creecy.
“The terms of reference have just been finalised now. We came straight from there now, and the procurement process is going to start as soon as I sign the terms of reference. Ideally, we expect to get a report in four to six weeks, but we don’t want to enter into that process.”
