When it comes to keeping your home clean and hygienic, the bathroom can be one of the most challenging places to tackle.
Housekeeping guru Mbali Nhlapo, the founder of Sisters at Work, shares expert tips and tricks for keeping your bathroom sparkling clean.
One of her key tips is to use the right cleaning products for the job.
She recommended incorporating hydrogen peroxide into a simple homemade bathroom spray to kill mould and mildew.
"You'll need one cup of warm water, one cup of hydrogen peroxide, and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Just mix it and spray it on the affected area; it's that simple,” she said.
For those pesky soap scum on your sink and shower door, Nhlapo recommended using a mixture of vinegar and baking soda to lift the scum.
"You'll need one cup of warm water, one cup of vinegar, and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Spray it on the scum, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it off with a microfiber cloth."
She reiterated the importance of deep cleaning your bathroom, including often-overlooked areas like the grout between the tiles and the shower head.
Her trick for the toilet includes mixing a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid, a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide and a cup of warm water.
"Pour it into the toilet bowl, let it sit for 10-20 minutes, and then scrub it clean with a toilet brush."
Nhlapo emphasised the importance of being mindful of the products we use in our homes and how they impact our health and the environment.
She encouraged consumers to think twice before reaching for chemical-laden cleaning products and to opt for natural alternatives instead.
