31 March 2025 | 11:29CAPE TOWN - A report by the Western Cape provincial mobility department has revealed that 33 pedestrians were killed on Cape Town roads in the month of March.
The department has now called on motorists to be more cautious on the roads, to avoid fatalities.
In a recent incident, two runners are recovering in hospital after being hit by a drunk driver in Bantry Bay.
Spokesperson for the department, Muneera Allie said that almost 55% of fatalities on the roads involved pedestrians and their safety needed to be prioritised.
“Our children, the elderly, and pedestrians are among the most vulnerable on our roads. Ensuring their safety is a shared responsibility that requires vigilance from both drivers and pedestrians”
