Several Tshwane suburbs still without power after substation fire

JOHANNESBURG - Several suburbs in Tshwane are still without electricity on Friday morning following a substation fire.

The blaze, which erupted just before 8pm on Thursday night at the Brakfontein substation, has affected six neighbourhoods.

City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the cause of the fire had not yet been established, but technicians were on site.

"The technicians will continue with assessments today, with a view to restoring power to the following areas that are still off - Rooihuiskraal North, The Reeds extensions, Wierdapark, Heuweloord. Affected customers will be kept abreast."
