Eskom implements Stage 2 load shedding

24 April 2025 | 14:19JOHANNESBURG – Eskom has on Thursday afternoon implemented Stage 2 power cuts until 5am on Friday.
The power utility cites, “higher-than-expected electricity demand, the loss of generation units, and extensive planned maintenance have placed strain on the system”.
Eskom further urges the public to use electricity sparingly.
This comes as the South African Weather Service has issued inclement weather warnings and severe thunderstorms for parts of the country.
