CAPE TOWN - The Cape Town edition of Comic-Con kicks off on Thursday.
The pop culture and gaming event will see international and local stars converge at the Cape Town International Convention Centre over the next four days.
Fans will be treated to casual and more serious competitions for gamers and cosplayers, who will be able to show off their talents on the main stage.
Event marketing manager, Austin Khodumo, said gamers would have the opportunity to show off their skills in their competitions this weekend.
"This year we're levelling up in terms of gaming. Fans can expect more competitive tournaments, featured play zone, exclusive gaming content and appearances from Esports talent. Whether you're a casual gamer or a serious competitor, the con is for everyone,” said Khodumo.
He added that Comic-Con provides a space for self-expression without judgement.
"It means belonging, it’s safe, it’s inclusive, it's an exciting space where fans can be themselves, you know, celebrate what they love and connect with others who speak the same language of fandom and it's not just an event, it's a homecoming."
