JOHANNESBURG - The three Free State police officers who perished at the Hennops River will be honoured and afforded official funerals.
Last Wednesday, constables Cebekhulu Linda (24), Keamogetswe Buys (30) and Boipelo Senoge (24) went missing after travelling from Bloemfontein to their area of deployment in Limpopo.
Following an extensive search for the trio, their bodies were recovered in the Hennops River in Centurion this week.
It's believed the car they were travelling in plunged into the Hennops River on the N1 highway in Centurion.
The car, a white VW Polo, was recovered from the river this week.
The three officers will be laid to rest in the Free State next week.
Provincial police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said, “The official funerals will take place on separate dates between the 8th and 10th of May 2025… and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 6 May 2025 in Bloemfontein.
Makhele said the passing of the three officers has touched the hearts of many South Africans.
“Their passing touched the country deeply, but their dedication and contribution will never be forgotten.”
