CAPE TOWN - The murder case of controversial Cape Town businessman, Mark Lifman, has been transferred to the George Regional Court.

Lifman was shot and killed in the town in November last year while walking to his car.

His alleged killers, Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout, made a brief appearance at the George Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Both Jacobs and Bezuidenhout remain behind bars pending their next appearance at the George Regional Court on 1 July.

They were arrested shortly after Lifman's murder and were denied bail by the George Magistrates Court.

However, the pair is expected to appear before a judge at the Western Cape High Court on Thursday to appeal the bail ruling.

But the State believes it has a watertight case against them and will oppose their bail appeal.

At the time of his murder, Lifman was the main accused in the 2017 murder of "steroid king", Brian Wainstein, alongside alleged underworld figures, Jerome "Donkey" Booysen, Andre Naude, Igor Russol and 10 others.
