JOHANNESBURG - A 17-year-old suspect linked to the disappearance of journalist, Aserie Ndlovu, and his partner, Zodwa Mdhluli, has been released from custody after appearing briefly at the KwaMhlanga Children’s Court in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

The minor appeared concurrently with another suspect, whose matter was heard in the KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court on Tuesday. However, he remains in custody.

The pair is among four suspects arrested and charged with hijacking and kidnapping in the case.

Police are still searching for the couple who were last seen in Mamelodi, East of Pretoria, more than two months ago.

The second suspect, Samuel Mogongwe, who was initially set to appear at the Mamelodi Magistrates Court, made his first appearance on Tuesday at KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court.

His matter was moved from the court due to a power outage that had heavily delayed court proceedings.

It was later decided that it's best for the matter to be heard in Mpumalanga, with police under the belief that the alleged crimes unfolded in that area.

Mogongwe’s matter has been postponed to Wednesday for additional charges.

The other two accused suspects are also due to appear before the court this week.
