Ramaphosa: Early reforms under Operation Vulindlela started to clear path for economic growth

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa said that some of the early reforms seen under Operation Vulindlela had started to clear the path for economic growth as the country continues to battle stagnancy.
Formed at the height of COVID-19 in 2020, the initiative was set to overcome stumbling blocks in the energy, logistics and telecomms sectors in a bid to spur economic growth and job creation.
Ramaphosa launched phase two of Operation Vulindlela at the Union Buildings on Wednesday.
"When I addressed the joint sitting of Parliament in October 2020, I said that in the aftermath of a fire, green shoots often begin to emerge, the ashes, I continued to say, enrich the soil and new life takes root to replace what was lost."
Ramaphosa said that the reduction of the severity and frequency of load shedding was a sure sign that Operation Vulindlela was getting the job done.
"These reforms that we embarked upon have enabled investment in energy generation, have also unlocked billions of rands in new investment in renewable energy in every part of the country but more especially in the Northern Cape, which had anemic economic growth."
