CAPE TOWN - Court proceedings in the case of five suspects linked to a murder inside the Wynberg Magistrates Court building got off to a dramatic start on Friday.
The suspects, believed to be members of the Junky Funky Kids gang operating in Lavender Hill, appeared at the same court on Friday.
Shireen Mathews, Abubaker Adams, Brian Booysen, Wanay Farao, and Vuyisani Zengethwa are accused of being involved in the alleged hit on Vrygrond taxi driver Dingalomoya Chintso in April.
The case against the five accused stood down for about half an hour when Adams was brought inside the courtroom, seemingly disoriented.
Adams was assisted by court orderlies to lay on the floor when he could not stand on his feet in the dock.
Western Cape NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila explained.
"We were informed at the start of the proceedings today that Mr Abubaker Adams fell and was feeling dizzy and confused. He came into the court briefly and he was excused."
It's understood that Adams was rushed to the hospital section of Pollsmore Prison for examination.
