Prince Mshiyeni Hospital: KZN health dept vows to protect staff members linked to probe of intern doctor's death

DURBAN - The health department in KwaZulu-Natal has vowed to protect Prince Mshiyeni hospital staff members linked to the investigation of a doctor's death.
Intern doctor Alulutho Mazwi died while working last week after being allegedly forced by his manager to report for work while sick.
The department said it's investigating the death.

"We want to reassure all staff involved in the investigation that no staff member will be victimised during the investigation, as this process should be fair for all parties involved," said KZN Health Department spokesperson Nathi Oliphant.
He has also called on staff members to report all concerns of mistreatment to the department.
"The department has secure mechanisms in place to report any issues, including emotional distress, systemic challenges, or workplace grievances. They are encouraged to use official channels such as the office of the CEO, human resources, or request support," said Oliphant.
