PRETORIA - Deputy President Paul Mashatile has pledged to strengthen the relationship between political leaders and appointed government officials, amid growing concerns over their lack of coordination.
Mashatile hosted a roundtable discussion at the presidential guesthouse in Pretoria on Friday, aimed at improving the effectiveness of those leading key state institutions.
There have been ongoing concerns that political appointees and senior administrative officials are not working in harmony.
Mashatile said both parties play complementary roles and need to function in unison.
"Always remember that the administrative-political interaction is critical for policy formation and execution, with politicians creating policy and administrators implementing it. We all have a vital role in the creation of a capable state. Let us remember that the success of our nation hinges on the strength of our state institutions and the dedication of those who serve within them."
