The teen was kidnapped in Bloemfontein on Thursday by men posing as police officers.

Provincial police commissioner Baile Motswenyane says the investigation is now at a crucial phase.

He added that the involvement of any SAPS member in criminal acts will not be tolerated.

The teenage boy was in the driver’s seat on his way from school with a family friend when they were pulled over by a bakkie fitted with blue lights.

Two men, one in a police uniform and the other in a blue tracksuit, told them their vehicle was linked to drug deliveries and ordered them to drive to the Park Road Police Station.

His cellphone was later founder under a bridge on Fereirra Road.

As the investigation continues, the police are appealing for public assistance in the matter.
