JOHANNESBURG - The Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina has unveiled a newly refurbished sewer pump station in the Boitekong area in Rustenburg, North West.
The pump station, which was handed over on Friday, was previously non-functional for the past ten years due to vandalism and theft of electrical and mechanical equipment.
In the Boitekong area, over 300 households were impacted by a daily overflow of water spillage due to this.
Majodina said the community would now have dignified sanitation.
"This sewer pump station is catering for 235 houses. However, it has been built to accommodate more. Currently in the area, we have 230 houses that are not connected to the main sewer line through the municipality to ensure that they get connected."
