JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina has warned residents in Boitekong, in the North West, not to tamper with the newly refurbished sewer pump station to prevent future sewage spillages.
Majodina was speaking during the official handover of the facility on Friday, following a decade of delays.

The pump station had been out of operation for years due to repeated vandalism and the theft of key electrical and mechanical components.
Majodina urged the community to take ownership of the infrastructure to ensure it remains functional.
"When people continue to do illegal connections to the sewer pipeline, that is why you will see that sewer is spilling all over in the streets because even the people who are doing that, they are not the right people to do it."
The upgraded facility is expected to restore proper sanitation to more than 300 households in the area.
