Firefighters battle blaze above Boyes Drive in Cape Town
Authorities say the right flank of the blaze has been brought under control, but crews are now focusing on the left side, which is slowly spreading toward Kalk Bay.

CAPE TOWN - Firefighters are working to contain a wildfire that broke out early Sunday on the slopes of the Table Mountain National Park above Boyes Drive in Cape Town.
Authorities said that the right flank of the blaze had been brought under control, but crews were now focusing on the left side, which was slowly spreading towards Kalk Bay.
City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said that a coordinated response was underway.
"Several resources were dispatched to the scene as well as an Incident Management Team type 4 to coordinate operational functions. However, the concern is the left flank that is slowly spreading towards Kalkbay. We are being assisted by Table Mountain National Parks and Volunteer Wildfire Services in our endeavors to get the fire under control.”

A fire broke out above Boyes Drive and is currently spreading along the left flank towards St James. Multiple resources have been deployed to assist with containment efforts.
