JOHANNESBURG - An adult male and a toddler have died in a house fire in Vossloorus Extension 20 in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It’s unclear what led to the fire, but firefighters in the City of Ekurhuleni responded to calls from the community of a well-lit house with people trapped inside.
City spokesperson William Ntladi said upon arrival, fire teams extinguished the flames but couldn’t save the man and child who were trapped inside the house
"Recovery was conducted, and we found two charred bodies, one of an adult male aged around 33 and a toddler of about a three years old male, as well.
"Unfortunately, they were declared deceased on scene by Gauteng provincial ambulance services paramedics. The actual cause of the fire is still undetermined, and the entire scene is under the watchful eye of the South African Police Services," said Ntladi.
