His historic landmark in Hogsback, known as “the great place” is in a dilapidated state, and has sparked great outcry from community members who say the site has failed to honour his rich legacy.

As the country commemorates 70 years of the Freedom Charter, Tyali’s family has criticised the current government, accusing it of failing to recognise Tyali’s contribution towards a democratic South Africa.
