CAPE TOWN - Cape Town flood victims are calling on government to provide them with proper housing.
Hundreds of Western Cape homes are waterlogged due to the torrential rain of the past few days.
This has forced thousands of residents to leave their homes and seek shelter at their local community halls.
Residents of informal settlements in Lwandle and Khayelitsha said that dealing with flooded homes every winter was disheartening.
Pholisa Dayimani is an elderly woman who has taken shelter at a community hall in Site C in Khayelitsha.
Dayimani said that the floods had ruined her home and furniture over the years.
"We have nowhere else to go. We are asking the mayor to help us because we don't want to go back to our flooded homes."
Flood damage assessments are continuing, with disaster teams and humanitarian aid workers assisting flood victims.
