JOHANNESBURG - Six children have died in two separate fire incidents in the City of Ekurhuleni.
In one incident in Boksburg, four children’s bodies were found after an informal settlement structure was engulfed by flames on Friday night.
Later that same evening, a fire broke out in a four-bedroom home in Katlehong, resulting in the death of two children.
The city’s emergency services said the cause of the incidents was still unknown.
Ekurhuleni’s emergency spokesperson Eric Maloka, “City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services urge residents to continue to exercise caution when using heating devices, not to leave them unattended while in use, to prevent fire incidents at home during this winter season.”
