Preliminary reports indicate that excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking may have led to the crash.
Community safety department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi is calling on all road users to follow traffic laws and help prevent further loss of life.
"Every driver has a responsibility to comply with the rules. Reckless driver behaviour, excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking remain a leading cause of deadly crashes especially at night. It is therefore incumbent upon every driver to be extremely vigilant when they take to the road."
