His family confirmed the burial date during a media briefing at his home in Barberton, Mpumalanga, earlier on Saturday.
Friends and political associates have gathered at Mabuza’s home to support the family as they come to terms with his sudden passing.
Planning the funeral has been particularly difficult for the family, who never expected to say goodbye so soon.
Family spokesperson Desmond Moela said that following consultations with government and the African National Congress (ANC), a date for the burial has been set.
“The family has agreed that the funeral will take place this coming Saturday, the 12th of July 2025. That’s what we can confirm on behalf of the family.”
He added that further details will be provided by the state in due course.
“The government of the Republic of South Africa will communicate how they intend to proceed from now on, and as soon as they are ready, they will inform the public.”
Three memorial services are planned throughout next week to honour Mabuza’s legacy.
