Temu launches local warehouse dispatch in South Africa to speed up deliveries
The Chinese e-commerce platform has introduced a local warehouse dispatch service in South Africa, enabling customers to receive orders in as little as one day.
Global e-commerce platform Temu has introduced a local warehouse dispatch service in South Africa.
The expansion is aimed at speeding up delivery times for consumers.
Already implemented in key markets like the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and several European countries, the local dispatch model is now being extended to Africa for the first time.
Products eligible for this service are labelled 'local warehouse' and are shipped directly from within South Africa.
While Temu does not operate its warehouses, it collaborates with third-party logistics providers and local sellers who handle inventory management, shipping, and after-sales support. This decentralised model is designed to boost service efficiency and significantly reduce delivery times.
Temu entered the South African market in 2024, two years after its US launch. The platform now operates in over 90 countries.
Its rapid rise in South Africa and other markets outside of China has been fueled by highly competitive pricing and an aggressive digital marketing push throughout 2023 and early 2024.
