CAPE TOWN - The prosecution in the fatal shooting case inside the Wynberg Magistrates Court said it had witnesses and video footage placing all five accused in the matter at the crime scene.

Two of the accused, Shireen Matthews, the alleged mastermind, and Wanay Farao, the alleged gun smuggler, were denied bail.

Alleged members of the Junky Funky Kids gang, Abubaker Adams, Brian Booysen, and Vuyisani Zengethwa have chosen not to apply for bail.

During judgment, the court heard that Matthews had a long list of run-ins with the law, dating back to 2011 for theft and fraud.

Magistrate Sharon Mthimunye said that Matthews had previously forfeited bail numerous times by not showing up to court.

Mthimunye also agreed with the State that the pair could not be trusted, as they'd knowingly provided false addresses to the police.

"I therefore am inclined to deal with the State that a likelihood has been established that if both accused were to be released on bail, there's a likelihood that they would evade their trials."
