EMPANGENI - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said that he was willing to step down should he be found guilty of the allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police boss, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi has implicated the minister in a string of misconduct allegations, alleging infiltration of the law enforcement agencies.
Mchunu has since been placed on leave of absence by President Cyril Ramaphosa, pending a commission of inquiry to probe the allegations.
Mchunu participated in the commemoration for Nelson Mandela Day in Empangeni, in northern KZN.
"Not only willing to step down because what will I be standing for if, after all the processes, and indeed it is as that person who was making allegations, it is found that it is like that."
He said he was preparing to present his case at the much-anticipated commission of inquiry.
"But I do put it out there that I've got confidence on my side when it comes to putting my case together with my lawyers, and I am preparing thoroughly for that."
