They have until the end of the month to prove otherwise.
Pensioners stood in the cold, rainy weather on Monday morning outside SASSA offices in Cape Town’s CBD, hoping to get their documents submitted.
EWN spoke to some in the queue, who were furious about how long the process was taking.
"This is unacceptable with SASSA, we’ve been standing here since 6 this morning and we’re in the rain, us elderly people, and I don’t know who’s going to do anything about it. They don’t have a specific plan, they don’t communicate with us, we don’t know what we’re supposed to do, we come here, we fill in all the forms, we leave, then they come back, they want more forms to be filled in."
