JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of former Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
Ndlovu was shot and killed at his home in Howick, north of Durban, in December 2023.
Police said they have arrested a 56-year-old traditional leader and a 26-year-old suspect who allegedly coordinated the killing while in the Pietermaritzburg prison.
At the time of his death, Ndlovu was the DA’s chief whip in the Umngeni Municipality.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said: "The pair will appear before the Howick Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 2025-07-31. They will join the two suspects who were previously arrested and charged with the murder. They will face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition."
