JOHANNESBURG - The N3 freeway between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal has been temporarily closed at Market Road in Pietermaritzburg to allow for the demolition of a bridge.
This stretch of the N3 is a critical freight and tourism corridor, playing a key role in transporting goods to and from the port of Durban.
The freeway closure is expected to remain in effect until Monday.
Authorities are urging motorists to use alternative routes or postpone their travel plans until the demolition work has been completed and the road is reopened.
