After recent rainfall, dams in WC almost 80% full
Although dams are not overflowing as they were at the same time in 2024, the department said recent rainfall has led to good dam inflows.

CAPE TOWN - Dam levels in the Western Cape are almost 80% full, while dams supplying Cape Town sit at just more than 84%.
This follows the recent downpours that have fallen across the province in recent weeks.
The Department of Water and Sanitation is urging residents to avoid crossing low-water bridges and flood-prone areas.
Although dams are not overflowing as they were at the same time in 2024, the department said recent rainfall has led to good dam inflows.
The 44 Western Cape dams are currently at 78,96% of total storage capacity.
The six dams supplying Cape Town are at 84,54% full, a decrease of 12% compared to 101% this time in 2024.
The Department of Water and Sanitation said the availability of bulk water did not mean that water restrictions would not be implemented.
The department has reiterated its call for responsible water usage.
