The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said the severe weather can be expected across Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
The national forecaster warned that the cold weather could lead to localised flooding, a possibility of hail, and damaging winds.
"Our motorists are urged to exercise caution while driving and ensure that you avoid crossing areas which might be flooded. Our residents in most of our low-lying areas [should] avoid crossing areas, which might be flooded like river streams," said Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.
