Sixty-eight-year-old Martha van der Walt faces a charge of culpable homicide for the incident, which occurred in June.
Wednesday will be her second court appearance after she was released on R5,000 bail in July.
Martha van der Walt appeared in the Germiston Magistrate's Court after she handed herself over to police, accompanied by her lawyer.
Her lawyer told the media that Van der Walt was concerned about the public perception and claims that she had deliberately run over Mahlangu.
The Mahlangu family has accused officers at the Germiston police station of giving Van der Walt preferential treatment, after the family was denied opening a case of murder, in addition to Van der Walt initially being granted station bail.
In July’s proceedings, the 68-year-old’s lawyer told the court that his client would continue to cooperate with police investigations.
The matter continues in court.
