The world’s oldest verified living person, Ethel Caterham, celebrated her 116th birthday on 21 August.

The British great-grandmother was officially awarded the title earlier this year. She was born in 1909, five years before the start of the First World War.

Her secret to long life? Say 'yes' to every opportunity.
